I Daniel Klein is recognised as one of the most forward-thinking chefs of his generation, setting new benchmarks in fine dining since 2011. His culinary journey began at the prestigious five-star “Kempinski Airport Hotel” in Munich, where he gained formative experience in a world-class kitchen. He went on to refine his craft at “Victor’s Residenz-Hotel” in Leipzig, quickly rising from sous-chef to head chef, before further elevating his expertise at the distinguished “The Westin” hotel.
Driven by passion and vision, he opened his own restaurant “KOOK36” in Moos near Plattling in 2018 – a project that was soon awarded a Michelin star. Building on this success, he relocated the concept to the vibrant centre of Deggendorf in early 2023.
In 2024, Daniel Klein embarks on a bold new chapter alongside André Karl, managing director of “K Gastronomie GmbH”. Together, they are developing an ambitious portfolio that includes the Michelin-starred “edl.eins” – set to reopen in October 2024 following a creative revamp – as well as “KOOK36”, the café-bistro “NEUN36”, and the “DALLAS Bar” located in the KARL Tower. Within this dynamic venture, Klein assumes culinary leadership at “edl.eins” while maintaining a close eye on all his projects, supported in key roles by Nicolas La Rocca.
With a spirit of innovation, uncompromising quality and grounded excellence, Daniel Klein is shaping the regional culinary scene – creating not only outstanding cuisine but also sustainable training and employment opportunities.
Beyond the pass, Daniel Klein steps into the media spotlight in 2024 as a judge on the JOYN series “LOST CHEFS”, sharing his expertise with the next generation and inviting a broader audience into his culinary world. I
